This course is designed to introduce key works, authors, and movements in 20th-century American literature. The course offers an overview of the development of recent American literature and places relevant works and authors in a broader literary historical and literary theoretical context, outlining possibilities for interpreting works assigned for reading. The course aims both to offer students a comprehensive picture of the history of 20th-century American literature and to introduce selected works and authors more closely.
